Better uses for vegetable co-streams – from curled carrots to probiotic smoothies and from potato peels to packaging film

Vegetable industry produces lots of co-streams which include outer leaf, peels and rejected products. Today, most of these co-streams and second-class vegetables are used as feed for farm animals. The Cycle project discovered ways to upgrade these products for more sustainable and profitable use. In the project VTT produced probiotic smoothies from vegetable co-streams and protective packaging layers from potato peels.
